Pura locura

Hola Familia y Amigos,

I love you all so much! I'm sorry that this will be such a fast email but Hermana Rodrigues and I have to go to a transfer meeting. She is being transferred and is being white-washed into a new area and training and I am training too so we will be gone all day at the training meeting. Things are going well here.

Also, I am guessing that Chris is going to Honduras if it's out of the US and New Jersey if it's in the US... We'll see! Hermana Rodrigues' guess is Florida or New York for the US and New Zealand for out of the US. Love you all.

Apostle: Apostles are chosen as special witnesses of Christ to all the world. There are fifteen Apostles living on the earth today. They make up the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church.

Assistant to the President (AP or Assistant):

Bishop: A man who has been ordained and set apart as the presiding high priest for a ward, or congregation. He has overall responsibility for ministering the temporal and spiritual affairs of the congregation. Similar to a minister, priest, or pastor.

The Book of Mormon: A record of the inhabitants of ancient America translated by Joseph Smith. Used as scripture, along with the Bible, by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Branch: In areas where there are not enough members of the Church to create a ward, branches are formed. See definition of "ward".

Branch president: The leader of a congregation. Similar to a "bishop".

Brother: Title for a male member of the church. See definition for "Sister."

Elder: Used as a title for male missionaries or general authorities of the Church.

General Authority: A priesthood leader over the general Church. This term can refer to prophets, apostles, and seventies.

Member: Probably referring to members of the local Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints congregation

Mission Home: House where the mission president and his family live

Mission leader (typically Branch or Ward):

Mission Office: Location where the administrative work of the mission is carried out. The mission president and APs work here.

Mission President: My mission president is President Moffat and his wife is Sister Moffat.

MTC (Missionary Training Center): Campus where missionaries are taught how to be good missionaries, practice teaching the gospel, and if necessary learn the language of their mission. Missionaries stay here from 3 to 12 weeks depending on the language they are learning.

Preparation Day (P-Day): One day a week where missionaries write letters home, do laundry, go shopping, and take care of other business so they can fully focus on missionary work the other 6 days of the week.

Prophet: As a messenger of God, a prophet receives commandments, prophecies, and revelations from God. The prophet today is Thomas S. Monson.

Sacrament meeting: The main purpose for sacrament meeting is to administer the ordinance of the sacrament to the membership. Sacrament meeting can also include prayers, congregational hymns, ward or branch business, talks given by assigned members, and musical numbers.

Sealing: An ordinance performed in the temple eternally uniting a husband and wife, or children and their parents.

Sister: Title given to female missionaries; also a title given to female Church members that represents that we are all children of God and therefore brothers and sisters

Stake: A group of congregations or wards, generally about three thousand to five thousand members in five to ten congregations.

Street contacting:

Temple: The house of the Lord prepared and dedicated for sacred gospel ordinances. Also a place of worship and prayer. Sacred ordinances of the gospel performed in the temples by those who are living for themselves and for those who are dead.
