Querida familia y amigos,
We found out this week that we are going to the temple on September 7 so that will be our preparation day instead of Monday. I am so exited for the temple! The last time we went was in April.
We met a great family this week. We only talked to the dad once because the parents have opposite schedules, but they are both very kind. They have twin daughters who are twelve and a little two year old. The mom is bringing her daughters to mutual this week and we are going to give them a tour of the church on Tuesday so that they can meet one of the young women and her mother beforehand.
We felt like we should stop by this one former investigator last night. The sisters lost contact with him because he works on Sundays and couldn't get it off, but he reads the Book of Mormon all of the time still and really wants to be baptized. He just needs to go to church. Well because we felt like we should stop by last night we were able to learn that he has one week of vacation coming up and that he won't have to work on Sunday and that he will be able to come to church. Great! It is great to be lead by the Spirit in our work.
We have been doing a lot of work with the memebrs lately. We visit them and help them understand the principles of missionary work, especially as outlined in Preach My Gospel so that they can have a successful missionary experience. We love missionary work but we also know that all of the members who love the Gospel want to have good experiences too but often times they lack the skills or the understanding to share the gospel. We love going into their homes and having regular lessons with the same family to help them identify who they might want to share their testimony with, what their friend or family member's needs are, and how they can best share the Gospel with them. We call them member lessons.

Nuestro fundamento en Jesucristo
Querida Familia y Amigos,
We were able to have another great week here in Federal Way.
We found a great family this week. The elders had given us a referral in a neighborhood that we didn't even know existed. When we got there we found the home but had to drive far away to park. We forgot to do our best tracting approach which is to not look for the address and just knock on the doors of the other homes until they lead us to our referral. That way we are able to talk to more people because other people there might be prepared to hear the gospel as well. So while we were walking over to the home, we saw a neighbor that had the door open and decided to talk to them to see if they knew their neighbor. They were so nice and invited us to come in. The mom had a really good spirit about her. A few years ago she rode with some friends to California and on the way back they had passed through Salt Lake and went over to the temple. She thought the temple was so beautiful and told us that she had never seen anything like it. We were able to go back and teach her entire family (husband, three teenage children, and her son's girlfriend). We shared with them about the Book of Mormon and they were all very receptive. We will teach them again this week.
We are going to be visited by a general authority, member of the seventy in October, Elder Ringwood. President Larkin challenged all of us to read the whole Book of Mormon before he comes. I know the Book of Mormon is a true book that testifies of Jesus Christ. I hope that we all find time to read it, even for just a moment, every day. I love you all!

Felicidad
Querida Familia y Amigos,
We are really late writing the email this week. This morning in companion study we talked about praying with faith, being led by the Spirit. In our discussion we decided that as a companionship we needed to be more specific in our prayers. This morning we prayed that we would be able to find someone to share the gospel with as we were going to the library or the store and sure enough on our way into the library we met someone and ended up missing our reservation and having to reschedule for later in the day. I am grateful for the power of specific prayers and I know that the Lord always answers our prayers according to our faith and to His will.
This week we had a few chances to bear testimony of The Book of Mormon while tracting. I felt like I should take Moroni's challenge (Moroni 10:4) and pray to receive a confirmation that it is true. That morning in companionship study we were able to look through scriptures in The Book of Mormon that spoke about the atonement to share with one of our investigators. In that study I received confirmation in my heart that it testifies of Jesus Christ. The lesson that we were planning for was canceled, but later that day we were tracting and we met a man from Sinaloa, Mexico who told us that he had read the Book of Mormon and that it was fantasy and not true. He also said that we could not know that it was true. I was so grateful that just that morning I had received a confirming witness from the Holy Ghost. Hermana Melton and I were able to (respectfully of course) testify that The Book of Mormon was in fact true and that actually we did know it.
Being a missionary is great. I know that Jesus is the Christ, our Savior. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. I know that we are members of Christ's church here on the earth and that we do have His authority. I love remembering my covenants every week at church. And I love you all!!

Me quedo aquí
Querida Familia y Amigos,
I am not being transferred this week so that means at least 6 more weeks here in beautiful Federal Way.
This week was a great week of miracles for us. Hermana Melton and I have been working very hard this transfer and haven't been able to see the fruit of our efforts in the ways that we would usually like to. But we kept working hard and exercising our faith and were blessed to see the hand of the Lord in our work.
There is a less-active member here who grew up in the church and believes that it is true, but married someone that is not a member and doesn't like to go by herself (she also has a hard time waking up in the morning). A few years ago her husband was taught by the elders but they did something that really turned him off to learning about the gospel and ever since then she hasn't let the missionaries anywhere near her husband. Then this week we stopped by to talk to her and she told us that her husband injured his back and that his chiropractor was a member who had served a mission in Colombia so they could speak Spanish together. They were able to talk about the church and the importance of raising your children with the gospel. The chirporactor was also able to answer a lot of her husband's questions about the differences between Catholicism and our church. Then the chiropractor offered to come with us to a lesson. The less-active member's husband told her that he would be willing to do that so we had a lesson at the chiropractor's house with this family. The spirit was felt strongly there and even though the rest of the chiropractor's family couldn't speak Spanish they had such a good attitude and came and participated in the lesson. We are so grateful for the returned-missionary chiropractor's willingness to share the gospel and to open his home. We will hopefully be able to continue teaching this family.
I have been learning the Spanish birthday song Las Mañanitas this week. You sing it in the morning to wake up the person whose birthday it is. It is longer and more exciting than the English birthday song. If you get a chance, you might want to search for a recording of it on the Internet so you can listen to it.
I was able to hear great news from the Kent sisters at Spanish meeting on Saturday. Three of the investigators that I taught in Kent are going to be baptized this month and one hopefully next month. It is just a testimony to me that we teach with the Spirit and we have confidence in the Lord and his timing. I may never have known what happened to those investigators but I am so thankful that the sisters shared with me that happy news!

No hay mucho que decir
Querida Familia y Amigos,
Yesterday we had zone conference. President Larkin talked about love as the motivation for missionary work and for obedience. We can all be more obedient missionaries and have more love. I left with a renewed energy and desire to be a faithful and diligent missionary.
Everything is fine here. I'm sorry I don't have much to write this week. I feel bad but I'm just not in the writing mood. Next week's letter will have to be twice as good to make up for it. :)
